Neuron Bio specialises in the development of biosolutions for the pharmaceutical and agro-food industries via its divisions: Neuron BioPharma and Neuron BioServices.
Neuron Bio was founded in 2005 as a spin-off from the research group of Dr. Doctor Fernando Valdivieso, Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Autonomous University of Madrid.
On 1 July 2010, in order to expand its capital and search for funding for current and future projects, Neuron Bio was floated on the Spanish Alternative Stock Market (MAB) in the growth companies sector (MAB-EE). Neuron Bio is the first biotech company to join the alternative market and is the only one that trades on the continuous market rather than according to the price-fixing process. The company attracted more than 2,600 prospective shareholders in the sharesubscription order,demand for the company’s initial share issue being 2.3 times the offer.
In July 2012, Neuron Bio segregated its Bioindustrial division into an independent company, 50% of which has been acquired by Repsol. Neol is thus a result of an alliance between Repsol and Neuron Bio, and as such is a company designed to lead innovation in the advanced biofuels market.
In less than six years Neuron Bio has become one of the reference businesses in the Spanish biotech market, a reputation ratified by numerous awards and prizes both national and international. The latest awards were the XVI Andalucian Research Prize for the Promotion of Scientific and Technical Research, the XXI Prize for Enterprise (Andalucia 2011), the Seal for Innovation by the Association of Spanish Science and Technology Parks, and the Andalucian Prize for Business Excellence in Innovation 2009, awarded by the Andalucian Regional Ministry of Innovation, Science and Industry. |
