The Neuron Group and Innofood create Innofood by Neuron®, a platform which provides complete R+D services for the agro-food industry.
This partnership allows the development of a specific area of the agro-food sector that will integrate employees from both companies.
On 31 March 2011 Neuron BPh formalized a strategic partnership with the company Innofood I+D+i SL., via which all technologies and services developed by both companies for the agro-food sector will be commercialized under the name Innofood by Neuron®.
Innofood by Neuron will be able to count on specialised employees from both companies to develop tailor-made projects in a direct, result-orientated way.
The Neuron BPh group, a referent Spanish company in the research field of biotechnology and biomedicine, and Innofood I+D+I, a biotech company based in Granada with a wide client portfolio in the agro-food sector, had already reached a scientific, technological and commercial collaboration agreement. This agreement has yielded joint research projects and a commitment for mutual exchange of ideas and transfer of knowledge.
During 2010 both biotech companies collaborated in the development of vegetable neuroprotective antioxidant extracts, which are based on by-products of tropical fruit cultivated in the Andalusian region, with the aim of incorporating them into functional foodstuffs. In the project called “Neuro-Extract” the neuroprotective activity of compounds extracted from mango leaves have proved to be especially interesting as a potential therapy for patients who have suffered strokes. In fact Neuron BPh has already taken out a patent protecting the use of the active principle of mango leaves as a neuro-protector.
As result of this successful teamwork both companies have decided to join forces and work to develop a unique team in the Spanish market.
The aim of Innofood by Neuron® is to create a completely innovative structure, made up of a versatile team with wide experience, which directly manages and develops complete, tailor-made, result-orientated R+D projects for the agro-food sector. Clients will find one single company able to carry out any R&D project for the agro-food sector, including preliminary technical-commercial viability studies, analysis, ingredient and food characterization, bio-safety and efficiency studies, development of new products and sensorial analysis of the final product.
