Neuron Bio collaborates with Asebio in disseminating biotechnological information to the media
On December I the II Bio-meeting with the media, organised by the Spanish Association of Biocompanies (Asebio) and Genoma España, was held in Madrid. The meeting was attended by Javier Velasco, CEO of Neuron Bio, who gave a talk entitled, “The present and future of second-generation biofuels”.
This meeting represents an important forum for training and opinion that aims to bring together experts and journalists to debate subjects related to this sector. Biotechnology constitutes one of the five strategic actions of the VI National Plan for R+D+I, in which it holds a place of prime importance because of its contribution to improvements in the quality of public health, business competitiveness, the creation of qualified employment and also its general involvement in such wide and diverse sectors as the environment, agro-food, chemicals, energy and health.
Thus the intention of the meeting was to boost public awareness concerning the tremendous impact of biotechnology both on a day-to-day level and on the long-term economy of the most diverse sectors, making it essential to be able to count on the mass media to channel this information to society as a whole. Isabel García, the general secretary of Asebio, and Rafael Camacho, CEO of Genoma España also spoke during the meeting.
Other important members of the world of biotechnology present at the event were María Blasco, director of the National Centre of Cancer Research, Marian Martinez, director the DNA Bank of the UPV-EHU and Sonsoles Rueda, technical director of GENOMICA.
